Product description

The DAB Esybox is the most advanced system currently available in the field of water supply, with a wide variety of applications, ranging from indoor pressure boosting to controlling a carwash. If you want a pump that you can leave alone once it has been installed, then the DAB Esybox is the one you want! The Esybox is equipped with a speed controller, which ensures that the pump runs only at the RPM required to pump the water, under the right pressure, to a particular location. This model is fully automated and very quiet. which, in addition to saving energy, will also extend the pump's life. This pump can be used in places with a high water requirement: for example at home (multiple taps, showers, baths, dishwashers, toilets, etc.), but also for larger irrigation systems. With this pump you can easily control various groups with the right capacity and pressure. The Esybox has a water-cooled motor that is fully corrosion-resistant. The motor can pump a maximum of 7,200 litres per hour, making use of its 2-litre pressure valve that has a 5-year warranty without maintenance requirements. Furthermore, the Esybox is fitted with a number of technical features, including:

  • an electronic speed regulator, ensuring consistently constant pressure
  • a speed controller with a start/stop function for specific water pressure in designated areas.
  • multi-step, providing more water pressure when required.
  • various sensors, such as: an electronic pressure-difference sensor, a built in temperature sensor, and a flow-rate / capacitance meter

Whether you install the DAB Esybox horizontally or vertically, in a ventilated area or a small space, this pump can handle any situation.  The integrated non-return valve allows for a horizontal and a vertical setup, and the DAB Esybox is also about 30% more compact compared with traditional installations. Most importantly: the Esybox has a protective mechanism that prevents icing within the system, because the pump switches on immediately to heat itself up when temperatures drop below the freezing point. In addition to its beautifully designed pump body (also presented with the 2013 Product Design Award), this pressure-boosting system is also fitted with a 70x40 mm high-resolution LCD display,  and the user-friendly interface makes the DAB Esybox very easy to control. Furthermore, the pump body is equipped with anti-vibration feet, which makes the Esybox even more quiet and comfortable; it has also been designed for a horizontal and vertical setup.

Water tank

This pump is equipped with a water tank, which may be handy in a number of situations; for example, if the pump needs to supply water occasionally (drip watering). In that case, a pump without a tank will start pulsating (continuously switching on and off). A pump that is fitted with a tank can supply water from its tank so that the pump does not need to switch on immediately. Such pumps are very handy to use with, for instance, irrigation tubes and controlled irrigation, or for filling a toilet reservoir, which is usually also a gradual process. A second advantage of a tank is that it greatly reduces water hammer, the hydraulic shock - or ‘blows’ - that water pipes experience if a water supply point is opened hard and fast. Pumps that provide instant high pressure may increase instances of water hammer, and are therefore equipped with a (built-in) tank.

This pump is labelled as being 'quiet'. Of course, like any electric appliance, a pump can be heard, but special attention has been given to its noise level. Thanks to its ultra-low noise level, the pump is highly suitable to be placed indoors, without being disturbing. The perception of noise is subjective, of course, but no other pumps are quieter than these.

Variable water supply

This pump is fitted with a speed controller, which is particularly handy for pressure-boosting pumps to which multiple water points are connected. If one water point is opened, the pump will start operating at a low level, and if several are opened, it will speed up to the required capacity. Pumps lacking such a device will start pumping at full speed, irrespective of the required capacity. These models are limited to the switch on/switch off mode, and are therefore considerably less energy efficient. As a result, speed controlling occurs mainly with a variable water supply and frequent or long-term use, such as to increase water pressure in your home. The DAB Easybox series is particularly useful to increase water pressure, and is therefore always fitted with a speed controller.

Dry-running protection

The name says it all: this pump is protected from running dry. Most pumps cannot, if at all, operate dry for long, which usually ends in the pump immediately burning out and/or seizing. For example, this could happen if the source has run dry and the pump can no longer draw water from it. Garden and booster pumps are particularly sensitive to running dry. Some borehole pumps and somewhat more advanced garden pumps are already equipped with built-in dry-running protection. Others can be easily fitted with a dry-running protection system: for example, with a separate one or with the DAB Control-D. This definitely guarantees that the garden or booster pump will not run dry.

DAB is one of the best-selling brands of water pumps for consumers as well as for professionals. These pumps adhere to a very high standard of quality, with each pump being tested manually by a staff member before it is put on the market. This is the only way DAB can guarantee that you obtain the absolute best. They have a solution regarding almost any situation, whether it involves an industrial application or simply spraying a garden. DAB's professional quality is also reflected in its consumer line. The DAB pumps we replace for people are usually over ten years old.

Automatic activation / deactivation

This pump switches on or off automatically if you open or close a water point that is connected to the pump. In many cases, this feature is a considerable advantage: for example, when irrigating a garden with a hand-held sprayer, or supplying a toilet or washing machine with rainwater. It is also useful if you want to increase the water pressure in your home. Unlike standard garden water pumps, water pressure pumps - because of the difference in pressure - 'notice' when one or more water points are opened or closed. This is how the pump knows that it needs to start or stop. Standard water pressure pumps (which are mounted to a tank) are equipped with a mechanical switch, and the more advanced ones have electronic switches. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages. The mechanical switch is reliable but can either not be set or it is difficult to do so, while the electronic version can be set but is dependent on electricity.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a regular booster pump and the DAB Esybox?
The DAB Esybox comes equipped with the latest technology, which distinguishes it from the entire market.
Regular booster pumps are louder (about 85 dB versus about 45 dB) and not speed controlled. In particular, the pump’s speed controller makes it stand out from the rest.

What is the difference between the DAB Booster Silent and the DAB Esybox?
The DAB Esybox distinguishes itself mainly in terms of the integrated speed controller, its higher capacity and pressure, and its compactness. Both models are compared in our blog, which can be referred to here.

What is a speed controller?
A speed controller ensures that the pumps runs at an RPM in line with the water requirement, which means that it will usually run at a low speed. If only one tap is opened, the pump's RPM will be exactly enough to keep the tap at the right pressure. This means that your pump is extremely energy efficient and will last a very long time.

What can I use this pump for?
This pump is suitable for the following applications:

  • Watering, spraying, and irrigating a garden or lawn (even with several groups)
  • Hosing down a terrace, decking or garden furniture
  • Supplying water/rainwater for your washing machine, toilet, sink, shower, etc.
  • Increasing water pressure
  • Controlling a carwash and other water systems

Can this pump be connected to the existing mains water pipes in my house?
Yes, this pump can be connected to the existing mains water pipes in your house.
If the water pressure in your home is too low or if you want to increase the number of draw-off points, the DAB Esybox will be the perfect solution.

What kind of water can I pump with this model?
The DAB Esybox is only suitable to pump clean water, i.e. water that is free from very large solid particles (< 2 mm).
This means that you can also pump water from a canal or ditch, but subject to certain conditions:

  • We recommend making use of a suction hose with a brass connection (better filtration).
  • We recommend making use of a pre-filter (this allows for extra filtering before the water enters the pump).

In addition, the water should not be colder than 0°C and not warmer than 35°C.

Is the pump suitable for continuous operation?
Yes, this pump is perfect for continuous operation.

Is it advisable to use a pre-filter?
If the water is virtually the same as drinking water, no pre-filter is needed.
However, if the water pumped contains solids - for example, water from a ditch or canal - we recommend using a pre-filter.

How should the pump be installed?
The pump and the entire connected system need to be protected against frost and inclement weather conditions.
Therefore, place the pump in a dry location with an ambient temperature from 5°C to 40°C, to allow the motor to cool sufficiently.
Furthermore, all connected pipes must be absolutely watertight and airtight to prevent damage and loss of performance.

The water to be drawn in by the pump is situated at a level lower than nine metres. How do I handle this?
Generally, garden pumps and booster pumps can draw in water from a maximum depth of nine metres.
If the water is occasionally at a depth lower than nine metres, you will need to use a borehole pump, which is placed in the well and usually has a delivery head of 50 metres and over.
Check our range of borehole pumps.

What happens if the water from the source is finished?
This is a water-cooled model pump, which means that it cools itself with the water it pumps.
When the water from the source is finished - for example, if the water level has dropped below nine metres - the pump will normally keep running with no water supply. This is referred to as 'dry running' and may cause the pump to become overheated, which could ruin it.

However, the pump is fitted with an integrated dry-running protection system, which protects the pump instantly from running dry. The DAB Esybox switches off automatically when no water can be supplied.

Is the pump suitable for a drinking-water system?
Yes, this pump is suitable for a drinking-water system.

Is the pump supplied ready to use?
Yes, you can start using the pump immediately, but it is not supplied with accessories such as a suction hose, a filter, and a discharge hose.
If needed, these can be ordered conveniently from our webshop together with your pump.
