Description of the Extrema 400/11 Pro Waste Water Submersible Pump

Brief specifications

  • Pump capacity 24,000 litres per hour
  • Head rate 11 metres
  • Solids handling size up to 40 mm

Pros and cons

  • Stainless steel and cast iron
  • Very robust
  • Can process large particle sizes
  • Automatically switches on and off
  • The float switch floats freely, so may get stuck behind something

The Extrema 400/11 Pro is the mid-range model in TIP's Extrema series. This pump, made partly of stainless steel, is particularly suited for use in dirty water. This dirty water pump can handle particle sizes up to 40mm and has a capacity of 24,000 litres per hour. A true powerhouse for a very competitive price! Thanks to the included fittings, you can connect your own hose or one of our hoses right away!

  • The hose that can be used for this pump has a 2" diameter
  • The pump is manufactured in Germany and is both robust and reliable
  • The maximum submersible depth is 7 metres
  • Equipped with a Vortex impeller for processing dirty water and solids (prevents clogging)
  • Float switch for automatically turning the pump on and off. Can also be used manually.
  • Thermal overload protection. The pump switches off if it overheats

This pump has a float switch, which means it automatically switches on and off based on the water level.

  • Switches on automatically when the water reaches 40 cm
  • Switches off automatically when the water reaches 25 cm
  • On manual mode (when the float switch is fixed/held), this pump will pump the water to 8 cm

Are you looking for a pump that leaves less water / switches on automatically sooner? In that case, you should choose a submersible utility pump.

TIP

TIP is a German manufacturer that is specialised in consumer water pumps. They have a very interesting range of mainly inox or stainless-steel pumps, fully aimed at the consumer market. Both high-capacity submersible pumps for very competitive prices, as well as stainless-steel borehole pumps for when water has to be pumped up from a depth greater than 8 metres. TIP is also very good at helping consumers find suitable solutions. For instance, they offer certain pump sets that are ready for use straightaway. Other pumps have handy features like discharge on the top or a base plate.

Stainless steel/Inox

Stainless steel – also called Inox – can be very handy in some cases. Stainless steel is particularly recommended in drinking water applications. Drinking water has to remain uncontaminated and cannot contain corrosion. For this reason, stainless steel is used. Stainless-steel pumps are also resistant against limescale. Limescale has a tendency to build up, which is impossible on smooth, stainless-steel surfaces. The alternative to stainless steel is usually cast iron. These pumps can corrode. This is why these pump types are often used for irrigation. A final advantage of stainless steel is that it does not weight as much as cast iron and is therefore easier to move.

Float switch for switching on/off automatically

This submersible pump has a float switch. This float switch ensures the submersible pump switches on and off automatically. Each pump has its own variables when it comes to when it will switch on or off. Heavy-duty dirty water pumps often have a high level for starting and stopping. They will switch on relatively late and switch off relatively late. Unlike submersible utility pumps, which start sooner and stop later. Check the pump specifications for these variables.
There are three types of float switches A free-floating float switch attached to a cable, a lever float switch, and an internal float switch. The free-floating float switch needs room, as it can move in all directions. The lever float switch needs less space, as it only moves up and down. This makes it more reliable in general. Finally, there is the internal float switch. It has been built into the pump and requires the least amount of space. These internal float switches are often used on submersible utility pumps that have to operate in small spaces.
