Choosing the SCALA2 means choosing a compact and silent all-in-one booster pump. It can provide proper water pressure at any time for all taps in your house. Even when multiple taps and showers are running simultaneously. It is a pump, motor, tank, sensor, drive, and check valve in a single, compact unit. The intelligent pump controller of the SCALA2 automatically adjusts the capacity to the pre-pressure and the water usage in the home. The water-cooled motor makes the SCALA2 one of the most silent boosters and user-friendly.

What do the intelligent pump controls mean in my situation?
The SCALA2 has a built-in sensor that constantly measures the pressure. If the pressure drops below the desired level, the SCALA2 will immediately raise the pressure to compensate for the lost. This is called intelligent pump control, and it results in a proper water pressure.

Advantages of the Grundfos SCALA 2 Booster Pump

  • Always the right water pressure
  • Very silent (47dB), similar to a modern dishwasher
  • Plug & Play
  • User-friendly controls, making it easy to operate
  • Dry-run protection
  • Long lifespan and low maintenance

What can you use the Grundfos SCALA2 for?
The Grundfos SCALA2 can be used as a pressure booster in homes with up to three storeys and eight taps. This pump can also be used as a rainwater harvesting (for using rainwater indoors) or irrigation pump to water your garden. Note: This pump has a maximum draw depth of 8 metres.

Silent

This pump is labelled 'silent'. Naturally, a pump will produce noise like any other electrical device, but special attention was paid to the noise level. Thanks to its very low noise level, this pump can also be installed in a home without causing a nuisance. This is of course a subjective matter. However, pumps don't come any more silent than these ones.

Variable water supply

This pump has a variable speed control system. The variable speed control system is mostly useful for booster pumps to which multiple water taps are connected. If one tap is activated, the pump will power up to a low level. If you turn on multiple taps, the pump will increase its RPM as required. Pumps without a variable speed control system will pump at full power, regardless of the capacity required. These pumps can only be turned on or off, making them far less energy-efficient. The variable speed control system is therefore often seen in systems with variable water demand and frequent or long periods of use, such as water pressure boosting in your home. The DAB Easybox series, very suited to boosting your water pressure, always has a variable speed control system for this reason.

Grundfos

Grundfos is one of the largest pump manufacturers in the world. They have a big piece of the industrial market, and for good reason. For decades, they have delivered the best possible quality. It is for this reason that many systems and situations these days use Grundfos pumps. Do not be surprised if you see your central heating system is equipped with a Grundfos circulation pump. Grundfos was originally a Danish company that has now expanded to many countries around the world and gained a considerable market share. In addition to central heating pumps and industrial products, Grundfos also sells a number of irrigation/booster pumps and they have a range of very robust and high-quality submersible pumps.

Protection against dry running of the pump

This pump is protected against dry running. Most pumps can't run dry for long or at all. This can result in the pump jamming and/or burning out immediately. This can happen when the well runs dry, and the pump is no longer able to suck in water. Irrigation pumps or booster pumps are particularly vulnerable to this. Some borehole pumps and more advanced irrigation pumps have standard built-in dry running protection. A pump that dies not comes standard with this, can easily be equipped with dry running protection, for instance, by adding a separate dry-run protection system or DAB Control-D. This ensures that your booster pump or irrigation pump will not run dry.

Switches on/off automatically

This pump switches on or off automatically when you turn on a tap somewhere that is connected to this pump. In many cases, it's very convenient if your pump switches on and off automatically. For instance, when you use it for irrigation with a hand nozzle. Or if you use rainwater to supply your toilet or washing machine. Certainly when you want to boost water pressure in your home too. Unlike a standard irrigation pump, a booster pump 'notices' when you turn on one or more taps, by registering a pressure difference. The pump will know it has to either start or stop. Standard booster pumps (installed on a tank) have a mechanical switch. More advanced booster pumps use an electronic switch. Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages. The mechanical switch is reliable but can't be (easily) adjusted. The electronic version can be adjusted but relies on electricity.
