TIP is a German manufacturer, specialising in water pumps for consumers. They have a very interesting range of mainly Inox or stainless steel pumps, fully tailored to the consumer market. Their products range from high-capacity submersible pumps at highly competitive prices to good stainless steel borehole pumps for situations in which water needs to be pumped up from a level deeper than eight metres. Furthermore, TIP is very good at accommodating the consumer. For example, some pumps come with a kit designed to start up immediately, while others are fitted with handy features, such as a top outlet or a baseplate.

Stainless steel / Inox

In some situations, stainless steel, which is also called Inox steel, can be very handy, and is prescribed in particular with regard to drinking water. Drinking water must remain pure and may not contain corrosive elements, which is the reason that stainless steel is used. Furthermore, a stainless steel pump is also resistant to lime, which tends to stick to surfaces, but is not able to do so with smooth, stainless steel surfaces. Cast iron is usually the counterpart of stainless steel, but these pumps are prone to corroding and are therefore used mainly for irrigation. A final advantage of stainless steel is that it is lighter than cast iron and is therefore easier to move.

Dry-running protection

The name says it all: this pump is protected from running dry. Most pumps cannot, if at all, operate dry for long, which usually ends in the pump immediately burning out and/or seizing. For example, this could happen if the source has run dry and the pump can no longer draw water from it. Garden and booster pumps are particularly sensitive to running dry. Some borehole pumps and somewhat more advanced garden pumps are already equipped with built-in dry-running protection. Others can be easily fitted with a dry-running protection system: for example, with a separate one or with the DAB Control-D. This definitely guarantees that the garden or booster pump will not run dry.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of water can I pump with this model?
The AJ4 Plus 6000 is only suitable to pump clean water; i.e. water that is free from very large solid particles. However, ensure that the water is free from sand, gravel, or street dirt, and that the water temperature is not lower than 0°C and not higher than 35°C.

Why a borehole pump and not a submersible pump, garden pump or booster pump?
Submersible pumps have an average delivery head of 7 metres, while garden and booster pumps can only draw in water from a maximum depth of 9 metres.
Borehole pumps exceed the limits of the other pumps, and are usually capable of raising water to a height of 50 metres.
Ideal for garden irrigation or for providing water in domestic situations.

In what situations can I use this pump?
This pump is suitable for the following applications:

  • Draining a space
  • Draining a well or borehole
  • Watering, spraying, and irrigating a garden or lawn
  • Hosing down a terrace, decking or garden furniture
  • Supplying water/rainwater for your washing machine, toilet, sink, or shower in a separate circuit

How do I install a borehole pump?
First, the borehole pump needs to be immersed in the water. It is important that the pump is situated at least 50 cm above the bottom, so that it does not draw in any sand, gravel, or other dirt. Furthermore, a borehole pump may be submerged to a maximum depth of 20 metres.

Can I convert this model into an automatic pump?
Yes, the Electric Control System or the DAB Control-D allows you to convert this borehole pump into an active system.
This means that the pump switches on automatically when water is needed (e.g. on opening a tap) and off when it is no longer needed.

I could not find the pump model that I had in mind, what should I do?
If you are looking for and cannot find a pump that meets your requirements, you are advised to contact us by email or telephone. We usually have a suitable recommendation for any situation.

Is the pump supplied ready to use?
Yes, this pump is supplied with every component needed for immediate use.
However, this pump does not come with a discharge hose, although one can easily be added to your order.
Discharge hoses can be connected to each other if a length of 10 metres is not sufficient.
