Booster pumps operate by means of a mechanical or electronic pressure switch, that measures the current water pipe pressure, enabling the pump to switch on or switch off automatically. If a pressure switch is not set correctly or too sensitively, the pump may not perform optimally.
This blog will help solve that particular problem. Please refer to the next article if your booster pump does not switch off or continues pulsating (on/off, on/off).
If you think your booster pump switches off too quickly, it means that the switch-off pressure has been set too low. The problem can be solved by increasing the pressure.
If you think your booster pump switches on too quickly, it means that the switch-on pressure has been set too high. The problem can be solved by decreasing the pressure.
This refers to the following product series: DAB Aquajet / Aquajet-Inox, Tallas D-BOOST, EL BOOSTER
Before starting, please note that a mechanical pressure switch cannot be reset to default factory settings. You are responsible for the correct configuration, and we cannot assist you in this respect.
Please take into account the following aspects:
As a standard, the pressure switch is set to switch-on pressure: 2 bar, switch-off pressure: 3 bar;
The maximum pressure can be calculated by dividing the delivery head value by 10. This value is indicated on your pump.
Please follow the next steps:
Disconnect the pump from the power supply;
Remove the lid from the pressure switch;
The screw in the large spring controls both the switch-on pressure and the switch-off pressure: turn it to the right to increase both pressure settings, and to the left to decrease them;
The screw in the small spring only controls the switch-off pressure: turn it to the right to increase the pressure setting, and to the left to decrease it;
Replace the lid.
The 'electronic pressure switch' category can be subdivided into the following product groups:
This system's switch-on and switch-off pressure cannot be adapted. If you think the pump switches off too quickly, you may choose to place a pressure-reducing valve between the pipes.
These systems are fully adjustable. Please refer to the manual.
