Draining / pumping dry

Generally, a submersible pump is used if a certain space needs to be drained as a result of flooding or other causes.  A submersible pump is immersed in the water source, using a discharge hose to drain the water to the required location. This pump is capable of processing clean water as well as dirty water that contains solid particles. However, the most important aspect of a water pump is the size of the solid particles it allows to pass through. A submersible pump can be used for draining flooded cellars, wells, rain barrels, manure pits, and so on.

Surface drying / puddle pumps

If the space needs to be drained practically 'mop dry', a puddle pump is your best option. These pumps drain a surface dry to about 0-2 mm, and are therefore only suitable for processing clean water or rainwater.

Spraying / irrigating

You can opt for a garden pump to irrigate your garden, greenhouse, or allotment. These come in different models, and the main difference is their delivery head, suction depth, and pump capacity. The deeper the pump needs to draw water from, the more water pressure will be lost. Every pump we supply has a chart that indicates what water pressure can be supplied at which depth.

Filling a pond or a swimming pool

When filling a pond or a swimming pool, you need a water pump that is able to process clean water and transfer water under high pressure. Generally, a garden pump is used in this situation.

Transferring water

If you need to transfer clean or dirty water, you need a self-priming pump, which is fitted with both a suction hose and a discharge hose. The suction hose is placed with the self-priming pump in the water source so that the water is transferred through it into the pump. The water is then drained through the discharge hose. Usually a garden pump is used in this situation.

Increasing water pressure

Booster pumps, also known as water-pressure increasing pumps, are mainly used in houses where the water-pipe pressure is considered to be too low. They are ideal in old houses with old water pipes and upstairs houses/apartments, but also for use in houses with an extra shower, toilet, tap, or washing machine.

Supplying water to a fountain

If you want to create a fountain in your pond, you will need a pond pump,  as these are capable of circulating water or creating a fountain.

Circulating water

Pond water needs to be circulated so that no substances can develop that may harm its habitat. Water circulation also contributes to a better absorption of oxygen and carbon dioxide, which keeps the water healthy. The same applies to swimming pools, which need circulating water to ensure that the water in which people swim remains healthy.

Indoor rainwater use

You will need a rainwater pump if you want to use rainwater within the house. These pumps ensure that rainwater as well as clean water can be reused: for example, to flush the toilet, during which 13,000 litres of water are used per person per year. With a rainwater pump, this amount of water could partly be reduced by reusing rainwater, or wastewater from a washbasin or  shower.
